Handling this many tracks of digital audio with full individual high-resolution EQ, dynamics, and effects processing requires considerably more power than even the fastest desktop computers can provide without help. The primary advantage of TDM is that the majority of signal processing calculations take-place outside the CPU on dedicated DSP "farms", leaving the CPU (an expanded power mac G4) free to run the software, provide real-time metering, etc. The result is fast and extremely powerful functionality!

Our workspace allows all phases of your production - tracking, overdubs, editing, mixing, and mastering to flow smoothly and efficiently thanks to total automation capability (yes - this means every parameter), real-time waveform editing, touch-screen interface, and our extensive template and settings library. For example, a great acoustic guitar or hi-hat EQ setting can be saved for instant access in a new song. Or a complex live band recording setup with painstakingly created drum mic EQ and compression settings can be recalled months later in a matter of seconds to track a new song! This translates to considerable cost savings.

The problem with traditional linear and analog recording methods, besides their expense is that they are rigid. While you can certainly get great sound quality, you are essentially locked into the same aged process of tracking, then overdubbing, then mixing, etc. that every other project uses. In addition, studios that spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on mixing consoles and hardware processors must use them for several years in order to recoup that investment. Again, this can result in your project sounding very similar to everyone else's.

Conscious Sound's digital workspace supports many session types, including ProTools, Logic, Performer, and Reason. For projects beginning from scratch, we can use any or a combination of these platforms to get precisely the sound you are looking for quickly - no matter what phase your project is in.
We specialize in integrating seamlessly with other commercial, project, or home studios whatever format you are working in. We offer a variety of transfer and format conversion options, and can even import and export individual tracks for projects which are in progress. This arrangement provides a valuable advantage to our clients with home studios.

For example, we can lay down drum and bass tracks to your master session here, then make a stereo reference mix on two tracks of an ADAT tape. Then you take that ADAT tape to your home studio, fill up the remaining six tracks with guitar or vocal tracks, then bring or send it back to us. From there we can process your guitar tracks with our amazing Amp Farm tube modeling software, edit your vocals, then re-sync digitally with your original rhythm section for mixdown!
