Conscious Sound uses an assortment of digital and analog dynamics and EQ processing tools. These allow you to give each of your tracks precise sonic characteristics and define their dynamic and tonal behavior within your mix.


For example, our drawmer dynamics and focusrite TDM plug-ins have outstanding smoothing characteristics, and can subtly tighten, add detail, or dramatically emphasize tracks. These, and many others installed in our digital workspace each give distinctive dynamic attributes to any track.
Modeled after their hardware counterparts, some are ideally suited for certain types of instruments or applications. For example, the drawmer compressor is excellent for adding power and bringing out articulation in vocals. The focusrite d3 works well on stereo sources to contain 'boominess' without adding coloration or artifacts.
We also use the hardware version of the d3 - the classic focusrite Red 3. Like the digital version which emulates it, the Red 3 is valued by many of the world's top engineers for its velvety clean performance without coloration.
Sometimes, however, coloration is exactly what's called for. For example, we employ digital versions of the LA-2A and 1176, the most popular vintage compressors used in top pro studios.

Proprietary modeling technology duplicates the sublte coloration effects of every tube, transformer and transistor in the original hardware. These tools are perfect for getting "vintage" sounding warmth and smoothness.
Another exceptional compressor is our Waves Renaissance Compressor, which provides great warmth and richness - highly effective for solo instruments. We also utilize the powerful C4 Parametric Multiband Processor TDM - a beautiful sounding dynamics and tonal tool with 4 band up and down expansion, limiting, compression, plus dynamic and standard EQ.
Also in the EQ department, we love the extraordinarily clean and musical Focusrite d2 6-band parametric. We've found it to be extremely versatile, both for it's purity of sound and precision. It has an extremely pleasing and transparent quality, and is highly accurate for exact frequency emphasis or de-emphasis jobs. After hundreds of sessions with the d2, we've organized dozens of "starting point" settings for various EQ tasks to save you time.
One of the great benefits of using these high quality processors within our digital workspace is our ability to automate every parameter in precise rhythmical ways. This allows us to turn the focusrite d2 into an extremely smooth oscillating filter to add subtle movement or dramatic undulations.
